As a lad;
I traveled with Mom and Dad;
Near and far;
Always by car;
My sanity I did save;
Reading signs ending Burmashave;
Gone the signs of yesterdays;
Enter those of the new highways;
Adopt a Highway is government's toy;
For us to pick up crap is the ploy;
To onerous practices you must agree;
Before the policing of debris;
But oh what a prize;
A highway sign with your name, in a tiny size;
Expected, the signs of vehicular atrophy;
Flaps, blades, treads, each a minor catastrophe;
Found are condoms, bottles, jars, dead skunks;
Much of it caused by drunks;
The worst atrocity by far;
Fast-food junk tossed from a speeding car;
I don't understand;
My brain is atwitter;
What if we simply did not litter?
